Max Fowler's Model Railway Gallery
About Me
I am a Registered Architect working for a large sprinkler company and have lived in Ayrshire since 1996 (prior to that I spent over 30 years in the "New Town" of Cumbernauld) and have being taking photographs (of varying standard!!) for around 38 years. While I have spent most time on photographing trains I also spent a number of years photgraphing buses and in the past 5 years have returned to my Model Railways.

I now have a 'Real' Railway Gallery, 'Model' Railway Gallery and my Bus Gallery.

Any comments on any of them are most welcome.

St Ann's Depot at its first outing - at the Cathcart Model Railway Show in late 2007. Despite the copyright sign on these particular photos showing my name, they were in fact all taken by Michael Henderon. Thanks to him for allowing me to show them on this site.

Since these photographs were taken the layout has attended the Ayr Model Railway Show in September 2009 under the DEMU banner and then 2 weeks later at Bonnybridge Model Railway Show representing my club - Glasgow & West of Scotland MRC

My first layout in around 25 years. This shows the progress from board construction to track laying, scenery and building structures etc. The total size of the layout is 7ft 6ins by 2ft 0ins.

The layout is available for exhibition use and can be transported in my car. Please contact me if you think you would be interested in having this at an exhibition. Refer the other 2 collections to see how the layout looks when set up.

Photographs of some of my first attempts at weathering using an Airbrush. No locomotives have been touched yet (the Class 37 and 47 are shown as purchased and for comparison when eventualy weathered) but timescales are tight as they are all being used at this years (2008) Glasgow Cathcart Model Railway Show towards end of October on our club layout Bardowie.

Any comments on these attempts at weathering are more than welcome.

Welcome
This site allows me to show various photographs of different model railway layouts that have caught my eye at shows etc. In addition the site contains photographs of St Ann's Depot my compact locomotive depot (seven and a half feet by two feet) set in 1983 while Rail Blue was all the rage and the Large Logo livery was starting to become prominent. The depot (which is purely fictional) occupies the site of a former steam depot. The old shed still exists (albeit without any roof and now with smashed windows) and the former turntable pit has been filled in although some of the old track can be seen through the vegitation.

As Secretary of the Glasgow & West of Scotland Model Railway Club I have also included shots of our current OO Gauge layout - Bardowie. We are always on the lookout for new members so if you are free on a Sunday afternoon in the Bearsden area please contact me on glasgowwsmrc@tiscali.co.uk and I will give you more details.
